Research Profile

Research on the cultural and religious encounter between China and the West the 16th and 17th centuries, especially between missionaries and Chinese intellectuals. The
primary materials used are books written in Classical Chinese to present Western thinking and religion to China, or in Latin to present China to the West.

Research Profile

Prof. Xiaofeng Liu is in charge of organizing, editing and publishing several scholarly series aimed at translating Western academic classics into Chinese. In October 2002, Prof. Liu Xiaofeng's essay "Nietzsche's Exotic and Esoteric Teachings" was awarded the Readers' Prize by the magazine Shuwu.
